Hong Kong's best luxury hotels with outdoor pools
We're still kind of reeling from the newly imposed quarantine restrictions for travellers coming into Hong Kong. Just when we thought the COVID madness was slowly coming to an end, we're slammed with another 21-day hotel quarantine rule!
At this point in the pandemic, Hong Kongers have figured out that the next best thing to a summer vacation abroad is a staycation right here in the city. We've compiled a list of our favourite hotels with outdoor pools where you can at least pretend you're on a tropical getaway for a weekend.
1. Four Seasons Hong Kong
Pamper yourself with the best deep tissue massage in Hong Kong at the Four Seasons Spa, and roll up to the outdoor infinity pool with a panoramic view of the iconic skyline. This is your best chance for nabbing a sun bed, as this outdoor pool is probably the biggest and nicest in Hong Kong.

2. Sheraton Tung Chung
The latest five-star hotel opening in Lantau, Sheraton Tung Chung is a nice quiet retreat away from the city. Enjoy the scenic mountain and sea views from the outdoor pool, and follow up a morning tanning session with one of the best surf-and-turf free flow Sunday brunches at the hotel's rooftop restaurant, Sunset Grill.

3. Island Shangri-La
This is admittedly one of the hardest pools to get a seat at due to the sheer popularity of the hotel's staycation packages and newly renovated rooms. If you are able to reserve a lounger (or a space on the grassy lawn), the Shang's pool is great for tanning. Head over to the on-site Thai restaurant for one our favourite pad kra pow (minced pork stir fry) in town!

4. Grand Hyatt Hong Kong
A very family-friendly pool! The 164-foot heated lagoon pool overlooks the Central skyline, with plenty of sun beds to claim.

5. The Arca
The latest urban hotel by Yulan Group in Wong Chuk Hang, The Arca is home to a gorgeous rooftop infinity pool. The best thing about this hotel? It's pet-friendly, and is probably the only hotel in Hong Kong to allow two dogs to stay with you in a room.

6. W Hong Kong
Few hotel rooftop pools are as ~iconic~ as the one at the W! A long, long time ago, this pool was the site of some of the most raucous pool parties ever witnessed. Now, it's a great place to while away Sunday afternoons under a blazing hot sun. Don't forget your sunscreen!

7. K11 Artus
The lesser known outdoor infinity pool at K11 Artus is on the smaller side, but feels much more exclusive than the other pools listed here. Given its location at Victoria Dockside, it has one of the best views across the harbour to Hong Kong island.

8. Rosewood Hong Kong
Located right next door to K11 Artus is the more popular Rosewood infinity pool. We did find that the sun was harder to catch here, as the hotel building blocks the sun for most of the day. Best to go early during the morning, and remember to order one of the scrumptious fresh-blended smoothies from Asaya Kitchen.

9. Kerry Hotel
While Kerry Hotel is a government-designated quarantine hotel, a day pass at the dreamy infinity pool is available to the public by way of "The Daycation". Prices start from HK$500 for a weekday pool pass and set lunch, and from HK$700 on weekends.

10. Hotel Icon
A surprise find in Kowloon, Hotel Indigo is one of the few hotels in Hong Kong to champion a philosophy of sustainable luxury (think drinking water on tap in each room!). The rooftop pool is expansive and quiet, and adjoins an indoor lounging area stocked with free board games and coffee.
